Sky Queen Studio is a collage and mixed media business that creates colorful, whimsical and playful artwork to be enjoyed in the home, businesses, publications and beyond. SQS creates pieces that are inspired by pop culture, travel, 90s nostalgia, animals and sustainability. All pieces incorporate recycled or reclaimed materials and/or processes, in an effort to give new life to old things.
Ali Solonche (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary artist based out of Baltimore, MD. She earned her BFA in Studio Art from New York University where she spent time exploring all things art in New York City and Florence, Italy. Ali has been a lifelong creative, following in the footsteps of her grandmother (sorry dad, it skipped a generation), and after being in the corporate world for nearly 10 years, decided to get back to her roots and share her art with the world. When she's not in the studio, she can be found going on adventures with her family, walking her rescue pup, lounging with a good book in the hammock, or naturally, taking pictures of the sky.

To create her original works of art, Ali starts by sourcing a variety of pre-owned (primarily paper) materials, including magazines, books, flyers and more.
Depending on the piece, such as her disco ball series, she’ll create a paper grid by hand on a wood canvas. She thoughtfully curates and cuts unique images for each piece, and then “paints with paper” by layering paper and adhesive. She pays meticulous attention to every square inch of her canvas, from embedding “hidden” images to wrapping each edge to adding sparkle and dimension. All works are crafted completely by hand, sealed, signed and dated.
